LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS

SPCC and South Pasadena Senior Center hosted the annual LNY Senior Luncheon on 2/4/2025 and it was a great success! We welcomed 120 seniors along with officials who joined us for this event. We had our traditional cultural dances. A heartfelt thank you to Shireen Chang for thoughtfully organizing these performances. This year we also introduced solo and choir performance, adding a beautiful musical touch to the celebration. A huge thank you to our dedicated music teacher, Ms Laney Lou, as well as the South Pasadena parents who performed in the choir.  We are grateful to Bob Joe for his generous donation for Almond Cookies and Fortune Cookies every year, adding a sweet treat to everyone.  Additionally, a big thank you to Athens Services for providing red envelopes with candy to our seniors.  And last but not the least, a special thank you to Peitty Chou’s family for hand picking and donating Cuties, a beautiful and symbolic addition to the tables.

Marengo PTA hosted their 4th annual Lunar New Year Festival at Orange Grove Park on 2/9/25 and SPCC was the first booth to visit on the trail map! Thank you Leighton Kwok for continuing to lead SPHS volunteers in participating and helping at the SPCC booth. Thank you Sulynn and Connie for providing support and guidance to Leighton. SPCC is a proud yearly sponsor of this event.

It was wonderful to see so many families with young kids and friends come together to celebrate this special event, enjoy cultural performances and participate in the Year of the Snake crafts and activities.

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making these LNY celebration events so meaningful!

Wishing you all a fantastic year ahead!

Best regards,
Julie Wong (VP of Cultural)

SPHS SPCC ASB Club volunteered at the SPCC Booth at the Marengo LNY Event. It was a packed day with kids starting their stamp hunt with the SPCC booth craft station. The students were able to make little paper chain snakes that could be as tall and whatever color they wanted. We had pink and orange snakes all around with one even getting to be 100 rings long! Students could also color a fun firecracker coloring page.
