Scholarship Awards: 3 awards of $3,000 each
Objective
The South Pasadena Chinese-American Club (SPCC) established this scholarship in memory of Dr. Karl J. Hwang, a biophysical chemist and the late President and Co-Founder of SPCC.
Eligibility
South Pasadena High School (SPHS) graduating seniors with at least a 3.5 GPA who will be attending an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S. in the fall. The deadline for the Karl Hwang Scholarship Application was April 6, 2025.
Application Procedures
Submit a Scholarship Application by filling out the google form.
Selection
The selection of the scholarship recipients will be based on the following criteria:
- Academic excellence (cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.5 or better).
- Leadership involvement in school and community activities.
- Personal statement.
Award Committee
The SPCC Scholarship Committee will select the scholarship recipients. This committee will consist of five or more members appointed by the SPCC Board of Directors.
Notification & Presentation of Award
The scholarship recipients will be notified by announcement at the SPHS Senior Awards Night on May 28, 2025.
